Dear Parents and Guardians,

It may be because this is my first year at Dunfee, but this school year has absolutely flown by! I can hardly believe it is now April and we only have two months left of the 2018-19 school year. Even though only a short time is left, we have multiple opportunities for involvement and participation coming up in April and May.

Beginning next week, Wednesday, April 10th, the Principal’s Round Table meeting is at 6:15pm with the PTA meeting to follow at 7pm; both meetings will be in the library. April’s BOE meeting is April 30th at JTDS. Next month in May, the Principal’s Round Table and PTA meeting dates are Wednesday, May 8th, same times, same place; May’s BOE meeting is May 29th at ROBMS.

Please review the calendar for April below, but I would like to highlight a few specific upcoming events in April and May.

In preparation for May’s NJ State Standardized Testing, we will be conducting an infrastructure test for grades 3-5, Monday, April 8th, from 9:30-10:30am.

Thursday, April 11th, will be our Annual Drama Show featuring all of our Drama Club students. The evening performance is at 6:30pm; please come on out for this entertaining and fun night! Art and Music are two areas the students of Barnegat are well known for; additionally, mark your calendars for another fine arts opportunity held in May, our “Night of the Arts” will be held on Monday, May 20th.

Starting on Monday, May 13th, all students 3rd -5th grade will begin taking the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments — NJSLA for short; the NJDOE renamed and shortened the test in October which was formerly known as PARCC, Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers. Make-up testing will run the following week, and the 5th grade will be taking the Science tests on May 22nd and 23rd.

In case you have not heard, Mrs. Hans was just recognized for the “Teacher of the Year Award,” and Mrs. Cucinotta was awarded by the Barnegat School District with the “Educational Support Services Professional of the Year Award;” congratulations to two of Dunfee’s rockstars!

These are just a few of the exciting things in the remaining months of the year. Please come out and get involved with us. Check out the calendar below for more events and important dates.
