Meet your Music Teacher, Mr. McGrath!

Mr. Daniel McGrath is currently the General Music Teacher at Lillian M. Dunfee Elementary School and Joseph T. Donahue Elementary School. There, he provides musical instruction for the General Music Classes (Grades K-5). In addition, Mr. McGrath is also the Chorus Director at both LMDS & JTDS, the Assistant Band Director at JTDS, and the Drama Club Co-Advisor at LMDS. The 2016-2017 School Year will be Mr. McGrath's first full year of teaching!

Mr. McGrath graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, receiving a dual Bachelors in Music Degree (B.M) in both Music Education & Music Performance with a concentration in Instrumental Music (Trumpet). Prior to his undergraduate studies, Mr. McGrath attended Lacey Township High School (Lanoka Harbor, NJ), where he was actively involved as a member of the Band, Chorus, Drama Club, Student Council, and National Honor Society.

Prior to teaching at LMDS, Mr. McGrath served in Long Term Substitute Teaching roles in both the Lacey Township School District and the Manchester Township School District as an Instrumental Music Teacher. He joined the Barnegat Township School District in the Spring of 2016, where he served as the Instrumental Music Teacher at Cecil S. Collins Elementary School & Joseph T. Outside of school, Mr. McGrath plays trumpet in a variety of musical settings. He can be seen playing trumpet at Yankee Stadium, performing for Gallant Entertainment Inc. "City Beats," the Official Brass Band of New York City Football Club (NYCFC). At the same, Mr. McGrath has performed for the Brass Tacks Jazz Orchestra (Manahawkin, NJ), and for several musical theatre productions throughout New Jersey.

As a Music Educator, Mr. McGrath believes in creating a comforting classroom environment that allows all students to experience music to the best of their ability. Regardless of age, skill, or talent, music is an art form that allows students to demonstrate creativity and expression through performance!
Mr. McGrath lives in Forked River, NJ and is very thankful for the opportunity to serve as a Music Educator in the Barnegat Township School District.
