After graduation from high school, Mrs. Dunfee began her career with the Beach Haven National Bank. Her first position in our school district was in 1960, when she was employed as secretary to the Principal of the Barnegat Elementary School. In 1971, Mrs. Dunfee was promoted to the position of secretary of the Board of Education and she remained in that position until her retirement in 1984. Although retired, Mrs. Dunfee remained active in the Barnegat Historical Society and the Wright Memorial Presbyterian Church. In the summer of 1984, the Barnegat Boulevard School was renamed for her and later dedicated in her honor. Mrs. Dunfee passed away in 1998. A tree and plaque have been planted in her honor.
